Design Document


My intent for this level is to make a very fantasy like area that one likely wouldn't see in the real world.  I want to make a level that feels like something you would see in a Saturday morning episodic cartoon.  The player try and progress but finds problems and obstacles blocking their path that they need to solve to progress through the rest of the level.  I'm thinking of having bridges and platforms in a majority of the level and having broken bridges and platforms that need to be subverted or fixed to progress through the rest of the game.


Players will be taking control of the character who need to deliver a package to a far away town. The idea of the area will be a the traveler to make his way to the next town and is getting close, however due to maintenance issues in the platforms or natural forces knocking down the platforms.  Now the player character must find a way to progress through the area using his wits.

The intent is for the payer to leave the main cost to travel across a series of small islands interconnected with bridges and wooden paths.  After making it to the first island with no troubles the player will find the 2nd bridge is damaged.  They will need to collect a few resources from around the area to rebuild the missing section of the bridge.  The next bridge will have a split rope.  The player will need to find another way across, finding a series of large rocks that can safely take the player across the gap.  And finally the last bridge into town will be unusable and with no other paths the player character will be forced to find a bow, arrow and rope to shoot across the game and slide into town.
